Not Yet Perfect!
"He who grows in grace remembers that he is but dust, and he therefore does not expect his fellow Christians to be anything more. He overlooks ten thousands of their faults because he knows his God overlooks twenty thousand in his own case. He does not expect perfection in the creature, and, therefore he is not dissapionted when he does not find it. " -Charles Spurgeon
"Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."

What about the next verse?
"Let us therefore, as many as BE PERFECT, BE THUS MINDED; and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you."
What about what Jesus said?
"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect."
(Matthew 5:48)
What about God's promise in Heb. 10:14?
"For by one offering He hath PERFECTED FOR EVER them that are sanctifed."
Why did He tell Abraham, "Walk before Me and be thou PERFECT?"
(Gen. 17:1)
Why does the Apostle Paul mention repeatedly his longing for the church to be perfect?
Rom. 12:2; 2 Cor.7:1; 2 Cor. 13:9&11; Col. 4:12. The list goes on!
Why does the Bible mention over and over (at least two dozen times) our need to be perfect and about God's perfection at work in our lives?
This cannot be ignored, pushed under the rug, or shrugged off as being impossible while we are on earth. It is not just a mere suggestion or lofty comparason. It's the truth, and I truly mean to present it in love.
This has not come from my own mind; I have absolutely no intention to convince anyone to my own way of thinking. It's just that there are SO MANY places in The Bible that talk about perfection, and the only one that might come close to speaking against it is the only one that has been posted on this blog. We cannot ignore the others!
I write this in love, Rebecca. I truly love you. It hurts me to write all this, but please, PLEASE take it to heart. I write this with tears; Please, PLEASE understand that I love you!
Please do as you tell me to do. Take this issue in context. Don't stake everything on the few verses you posted. Eternity depends on it.
I don't know how to say all of this right. I wish I could. Just don't take my word for it. Take God's.

I love how the True Gospel inspires believers to live in the *perfected* blood of Christ. It's not my works that make me perfect, but HIS! If it were my works that made me perfect then I'd better be working hard to build my own heaven. :) Apart from accepting the finished work on the cross, we can never be "perfect" like God desires of us because "The heart is deceitful and desperately wicked" and "there is none that doeth good, no not one" and "all our righteousness is as filthy rags..." etc. Thankfully it's Christ and His blood that redeems me (perfects me) and makes me ready for my perfect home that HE is preparing. Sometimes the hardest part is accepting this simple truth of the Gospel because we think it should be more difficult to please a Holy and jealous God.
Great and encouraging thoughts Becca! Thanks for sharing. :)
